Social Media Cleanse

Hey y’all!

Have you ever caught yourself scrolling on Instagram without actually noticing you were on Instagram at all? Scrolling through Instagram mindlessly is a habit, a bad one at that. Social media can come with all sorts of negative impacts on your life. Comparison and jealousy to name a few.

Towards the end of my spring semester of Junior year, I decided to take a break from social media. I had enough. When I wrote my last blog post, I was off social media completely. I had deleted my Instagram with a decent following, Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook.

I do have to say I missed all of the fashion and makeup blogs I followed, however, it was such a freeing thing to do. I realized that I don’t need to live up to the expectations of society. Each one of us has something to bring to the table. We have to stop comparing ourselves to others. Just be your perfect self. You were created for a reason. You are special.

Since learning (and relearning those truths about myself) I am back on social media but with a different perspective. It’s okay to have bad days and mess up. In fact, you will have bad days. No one has a perfect life. You will get caught up scrolling and fall into the negative trap that comes along with social media. Take a step back when this happens. In the end you have to remember that you were put on this Earth for a reason and you impact so many more people than you know.

Thanks for reading.
